Royals’ Bobby Witt Jr. gets $288 million contract celebration after Vladimir Guerrero Jr. deal image

Bobby Witt Jr. will be paid $288 million over the length of his 11-year contract extension signed with the Kansas City Royals last year.

Talk about a bargain.

That's the general tenor on social media following MLB's latest big-money deal, with Vladimir Guerrero Jr. signing with the Toronto Blue Jays for 15 years and $500 million.

Witt's deal can technically rise to $377.7 million if the Royals accept the three years of club options on the end of it that would raise it to a 14-year structure.

It's still such a team-friendly deal relative to what Guerrero signed.

Witt is as good a hitter, much faster, and a high-level defender at a premium defensive position.

The Royals star is also two years younger.

The only problem for Kansas City is that Witt can opt out of the deal when he's 30. But by then, the Royals will have already gotten a bunch of years of immense value out of Witt.

Guerrero might not even be overpaid, but Witt sure is a steal.
