The Houston Astros will have some tough decisions to make over the next few weeks, which may require them to part ways with some of their players.

With the trade deadline approaching, expectations around baseball are for the Astros to improve.

Whether they want to do that by trading multiple prospects, a few players on their big league roster, or in other ways, the Astros will have to get creative.

When recently searching for what big league players could be without a job or on a new team after the deadline, FanSided predicted that one of them would be a former top prospect, Taylor Trammell.

“Taylor Trammell is another outfielder who has played more than Astros fans envisioned thanks to the injuries, but he hasn't done much with the opportunity he's been given. In the 14 games he's appeared in, Trammell has just five hits in 32 at-bats (.132 batting average). Three of those hits have gone for extra bases, but still: 5-for-32 with 13 strikeouts is just not good enough.

“Unfortunately, this fits what MLB fans have seen from Trammell throughout his big-league career. In parts of five MLB seasons, the 27-year-old has hit .166 with a .626 OPS and a 37 percent strikeout rate. He was once an exciting prospect, but his game hasn't translated to the Majors,” they wrote.

Trammell has played in 14 games this season. As FanSided noted, plenty of that has been due to the injuries to Yordan Alvarez and Chas McCormick.

It remains uncertain when Alvarez will return, but the hope is for McCormick to return sometime soon. Once he's back in the lineup, there won't be much of a need for a player of Trammell’s status any longer.
