MLB players' weekend is underway, and it allows players to wear any swag they would like while they are on the field. For Detroit Tigers' ace Tarik Skubal, it came in the form of cleats during his start on Thursday.

Skubal's Thursday start against the Minnesota featured him going 7 innings, while giving up just three earned runs, as his ERA sits at 2.42. Detroit won 4-3 in 11 innings.

The former AL CY Young winner Skubal was photographed wearing some new high tops.

Skubal shows out for players' weekend with Scooby-Doo Cleats

While players' weekend doesn't officially start until Friday, Skubal was seen rocking Scooby-Doo cleats during his start on Thursday, doing his signature high leg kick.

The shoutout to the famous children's cartoon is because of Skubal's nickname "Skub".

While Skubal wasn't slated to start during the weekend, he decided to get a head start on the rest of MLB.

Skubal is in the midst of another potential CY Young season, as he's putting together another phenomenal season, and is currently the favorite to win the illustrious pitching award.  He is 11-3 with a 2.42 ERA in 152 innings. He leads the American League in ERA, strikeouts (190), and WHIP (0.873).

Other MLB players have also taken advantage of the "early weekend" stage of players' weekend. Phillies' Bryce Harper was seen rocking a bat with flames on the barrel.

While Detroit is struggling a bit in the last month, they still hold a 70-52 record.
