The Detroit Tigers have multiple needs heading into the trade deadline, with the third base position being one of them. Not only would the Tigers love to find a third baseman, but there's a strong argument to be made that there's nothing more important for this team than finding a right-handed bat.
The Tigers could double-dip in this scenario and attempt to find a third baseman who swings it from the right side. Eugenio Suarez has been a known target, but there will be others.
When recently looking at potential options for the Tigers to pursue at the deadline, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press recently linked them to Ramon Urias, a third baseman for the Baltimore Orioles.
“I think you put all the chips in,” Petzold said. “But do the Tigers go a different route? Maybe they go the Ramon Urias route, where you get a right-handed hitting infielder. He hits against left-handed pitchers. He’s an offensive upgrade from a guy like Andy Ibanez. Those are some not-so-big-boy names that maybe protect that long-term sustainability, but maybe you don’t offer you the best chance to win the World Series in 2025.”

The Orioles have been among the most disappointing teams in Major League Baseball this year, and the expectation around the league is that they’ll sell.
Urias would be a prime trade candidate, as he's 31 years old and likely has some value as a Gold Glove winner and a career 104 OPS+ hitter.
In 2025, he’s struggled a bit with his 87 OPS+, but he's coming off a year where he posted a 115 OPS+ in 100 games.
If the Tigers could get that production, he'd be a nice addition.
