In a quick, two-hour and 19-minute game, the Detroit Tigers took care of the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. The final score: 1-0 Tigers.
All it took was a Wenceel Perez sacrifice fly scoring Kerry Carpenter from third base in the top of the sixth inning.
The game only saw seven hits, and just one base hit, which came off the bat of Spencer Torkleson, a double. The White Sox got a hit from Luis Robert and another from Curtis Mead.
Troy Melton picked up the win for Detroit. He is now 3-1 on the season. He went five innings and allowed just a single hit. He struck out six, and the Tigers' bullpen took care of the rest of the business. They retired 12 batters, allowing just a single hit and striking out three.

The tough luck loser for the White Sox was Martin Perez. He came out of relief and allowed just three hits in 3.1 innings while striking out four.
Detroit is now 70-52 on the season, and six games ahead of Cleveland in the American League Central standings. The White Sox have dropped to 44-77 on the season.
The Tigers will start a four-game series on the road at the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. The White Sox are off on Thursday, before playing three over the weekend in Kansas City, against the Royals.
