Insider provides uncertain timeline for Travis Bazzana's Guardians debut image

What an exciting past few weeks it has been for the Cleveland Guardians. Not only have the Guardians closed the gap in the American League Central with the Detroit Tigers, now sitting only six games behind with over a month to play, but they also called up their top prospect and one of the top prospects in Major League Baseball, Travis Bazzana, to Triple-A.

Some have suggested that Bazzana could eventually make his big league debut over the next few weeks, but Cleveland.com recently threw some cold water on that.

“It’s unclear if the promotion puts Bazzana in line to make his big league debut this season. He is a second baseman and the Guardians just moved Brayan Rocchio, their opening day shortstop, to second base. Rocchio has been playing good defense and contributing offensively.

“Considering the time Bazzana missed this year, he may not be ready for Cleveland this season. But the Guardians, who did little to help themselves at the trade deadline, have played their way back into the postseason picture,” Paul Hoynes wrote.

As he touched on, it remains uncertain what the Guardians' plan is with Bazzana.

He's proven throughout his young professional career to be an above-average player and even has star-caliber potential. However, if the Guardians are in the middle of a playoff push and don't want to change anything up, there's a very good chance he'll finish this season in Triple-A.

Ultimately, whichever way the Guardians decide to go could be the right one.

However, if they believe that Bazzana is one of the best nine players in the organization offensively, there's no reason he shouldn't be up in Cleveland.
