The Boston Red Sox have a logjam in the outfield and may be forced to cut ties with one of their young outfielders. Jarren Duran may be the odd man out.

The Red Sox have Duran, Wilyer Abreu, Roman Anthony and Ceddanne Rafaela. Anthony is not a trade candidate as he is the top prospect in baseball and just made his debut. Rafaela has already signed a long-term extension with the team. Between Abreu and Duran, Abreu is younger, a more valuable defender and has more club control.

The Athletic's Jim Bowden recently reported that the Red Sox will be trying to trade one of their outfielders this summer. Duran has already received some trade interest, and FanSided's Matt Davis suggested the Phillies could trade for him.

"The Boston Red Sox are well on their way to another mediocre season, and a shakeup could be in the mix for them," wrote Davis. "No. 1 overall prospect, outfielder Roman Anthony, has been called up for his opportunity in the majors, so a trade for Duran could be a possibility for the Phillies if the Red Sox need to make room on their roster."

Duran has great trade value as well. He was an All-Star last season and is under club control through 2028. He led baseball in doubles and triples last year. He is leading the American League with seven triples this season as well. He would be able to solve the Phillies' left field problems.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox would be able to get some good pitching prospects out of him. He is having a solid season this year, on an otherwise disappointing Red Sox team. With Masataka Yoshida slated to return at some point, the Red Sox will have to make some kind of move in the outfield, and Duran may be the player most likely to go.
