Oscar Valdez - Liam Wilson

Oscar Valdez is ready to hold gold again but must get by the surging Liam Wilson on March 29. The fight, hosted by Top Rank, is in Arizona and airs on ESPN+ in the U.S.

The 33-year-old Valdez is a former WBO featherweight and WBC super featherweight champion. He lost the WBC title against Shakur Stevenson in 2022 and has attempted to recapture his former glory. Valdez lost his last fight against Emanuel Navarrete for the WBO super featherweight belt. Navarrete landed over 20 punches four times in the fight.

Wilson knows a thing or two about Navarrette. The Aussie challenged Navarrete in February 2023 for the WBO title, knocking down the champion for the first time in his career. That wasn’t enough, as Navarrete dropped Wilson in the later rounds following a vicious right hand. Wilson was outlanded 98-37 in the final four rounds.

Both fighters hit hard, as seen against Navarrete. Valdez believes it will be a fight to remember, with him coming out on top.

"After seeing him in there with Navarrete and knowing my style, this will definitely be war," Valdez said. "It will be a fan-friendly fight. I’ve seen that he has a lot of heart when he fought Navarrete. But we’re going to see who has more heart and who wants it more."

The co-main event will see Seniesa Estrada vs. Yokasta Valle to determine the undisputed minimumweight champion.
