Little League World Series 2017 Live Blog: Canada and Mexico image

On Thursday afternoon, Canada and Mexico met in a Little League World Series international semifinal matchup, with the loser being eliminated. Here's a recap of the game.

First Inning

Top 1: Chase Marshall hit a double in the first inning, hitting a line drive to the center field wall, and was immediatley joined on base by Reid Hefflick, who reached on a walk with only one out. However Mexico pitcher Andre Garza recorded back-to-back strikeouts to end the inning unscathed.

Bottom 1: Isaac Miranda got things going for mexico by reaching first base on a walk, and then quickly stealing second base. Miranda then stole third on a wild pitch. Then Saul Soto grounded out to first, but hit Miranda home to put Mexico up 1-0. 

End 1: Mexico 1, Canada 0

Second Inning

Top 2: Grayson Frers drew a walk for Canada in the second inning, and advanced to second base on a ground ball in the next play. However Garza recorded another strikeout to end the inning, preserving Mexico's one-run lead.

Bottom 2: Carlos Garcia hit a double for Mexico to get it started in the second inning. Samuel Juarez then hit an RBI single to score another run for Mexico. Miranda then hit a single, putting runners on first and third for Mexico with two outs. Miranda then tried to get into a pickle, but was tagged out to end the inning. 

End 2: Mexico 2, Canada 0

Third Inning

Top 3: Robert Orr drilled a solo shot over the left field wall to start the inning for Canada, getting one run back.

Bottom 3: Jorge Garcia hit a single to short left field with one out for Mexico, and then Garza was walked to put runners on first and second. But a catch in right field by Chyzowsky and a strikeout ended the inning. 

End 3: Mexico 2, Canada 1

Fourth Inning

Top 4: Ty Fluet go the inning started with a single to shortstop, when he beat out the throw to first. Fluet then went to steal second, and Mexico overthrew the base, the ball rolling all the way to the center field fence. Fluet then stole his way home to score the second run of the game for Canada.

Bottom 4: Francisco Elizondo hit a single to left field to get Mexico started in the fourth. Then Juarez made it on base, putting runners on first and second with no outs. The pair quickly stole their way to second and third on a wild pitch, putting both of them in scoring position. Then Elizondo stole home on another wild pitch, giving them the 3-2 lead.

End 4: Mexico 3, Canada 2

Fifth Inning

Top 5: Orr reached first, and then Hefflick hit a singe up the middle to put runners on first and second for Canada in the fifth inning. The pair then advanced to second and third, respectively, on an error, with two outs. But Mexico quickly struck out the next batter, ending the inning.

Bottom 5: Jorge Garcia led off the inning for Mexico with a homer deep over the left field wall, increasing its lead to two. Andre Garza then drew a walk, and then Jorge Lambarria hit his own deep ball that just cleared the center field fence to score two more for Mexico, giving it a 6-2 lead. 

End 5: Mexico 6, Canada 2

Sixth Inning

Top 6: Chyzowski hit a double down the left field line to start the inning, keeping Canada's hope alive. Chyzowski made it to third, but Mexico grabbed two strikeouts and threw out another at first to end the inning and the game.
