Tigers closer Joe Nathan is done for the season. And maybe for good.

SPECTOR: How does Ausmus stack up to other managers?

The 40-year-old pitcher was at Triple-A Toledo Wednesday as part of his rehab from a right elbow flexor strain. He threw 10 pitches before he said he felt a pop in his arm.

"It feels like I broke my arm," Nathan said. "I never have broken my arm, but I would assume this is what it feels like.”

The six-time All-Star will have season-ending Tommy John surgery. His career in baseball is likely in jeopardy following this latest setback. He's seventh on the all-time saves list, recording 377.
