The Australian Boomers have named a talented 14-man squad for their upcoming game against Colorado ahead of the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup.
The matchup, which is set to take place on July 31, features a mix of veterans and next-generation players, giving new head coach Adam Caporn a crucial look at some of the younger Aussie talent coming through.
Caporn, who returns to the sidelines for the Aussies, this time as the head coach of the national team, faces his first big test leading the green and gold at the FIBA Asia Cup in Jeddah, which tips off in August.
"I couldn’t be more excited to return to Australia and get on the floor with the staff and playing group. The Asia Cup is a critical first step in building our team and system as we integrate new faces across both the roster and coaching staff," Caporn said.
"FIBA preparation windows are extremely short, so we need to hit the ground running from day one of camp. Our departments are already hard at work to ensure we are highly organised and make the most of every minute together.
"We’ll have a good mix of experienced Boomers and players getting their first taste of international tournament play at this level. So, we expect the learning curve to be steep and will embrace the opportunity to also grow as a group."
Headlining the 14-man squad is Jack McVeigh and Will Magnay, who were part of the Boomers 2024 Paris Olympics squad, alongside veterans Xavier Cooks and Jack White, and 17-year-old Dash Daniels, who is currently representing the Australian Emus at the U19 World Cup in Switzerland.
