The quarter-finals for the FIBA Asia Cup are set with the Australian Boomers taking on a familiar foe in the last eight.

The Boomers will face off against the Philippines on Wednesday, August 13, for a spot in the semi-finals after they booked their spot in the quarters, defeating hosts Saudi Arabia 95-88 in the Qualification round.

Australia — who finished top of Group A to earn automatic qualification to the quarters — and the Philippines have not played each other since the infamous 2018 all-in brawl during the FIBA 2019 Basketball World Cup Asian qualifier, which saw four Boomers and nine Philippines players ejected.

The game was abandoned in the third quarter due to the Philippines being unable to field enough players. Following the melee, 10 Philippines players were handed suspensions, while three Boomers also received suspensions.

The Sporting News has you covered with the Boomers schedule, results, TV information and more.
