The Australian Boomers move to 2-0 at the FIBA Asia Cup after a comfortable 93-80 win over Lebanon at King Abdullah Sports City.
The Aussies raced out of the gates with a 20-4 start, led by Jaylin Galloway who scored 10 of their points in the run, taking a commanding 31-14 lead at the end of the first quarter.
They kept their foot on the gas in the second quarter with a barrage of threes from Reyne Smith to lead 58-38 at the half, leading by 24 points at the end of the third to put the game out of reach.
"Really happy with the win. I thought we defended well at the start, and then struggled to control them after that. Credit to them, they just keep coming at you," head coach Adam Caporn said postgame.
"Lebanon kept trying things and they're difficult to deal with because they were willing to change things up. But on the other end, we did a great job moving the ball... really happy with the outcome."
Smith finished with 18 points on 4-of-11 from the 3-point line, adding five rebounds and three assists, while Jaylin Galloway added 18 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, adding five rebounds, three assists, and four steals.
Jack McVeigh chipped in 11 points, while Xavier Cooks finished with nine points, five rebounds, three assists, and three blocks.
For Lebanon, Youssef Khayat led the way with 22 points and six rebounds.
The Boomers will now turn their focus to their final group stage matchup against Qatar on Sunday, August 10, at 6:00 p.m. AEST.
A win over Qatar will see them finish at the top of Group A, and earn automatic qualification for the quarter-finals.
