Nick Kyrgios has been in and out of action this year.

He enjoyed a short run on the court at January's Australian Open, but has still spent the majority of the season sidelined.

The Sporting News has the latest on his status for the 2025 US Open.

Kyrgios is currently expected to play at the US Open in 2025 after being included on the official entry list.

The Australian has a current ATP ranking of 640, but has activated his protected ranking of 21.

Protected rankings are calculated using a player's average ranking over three months following an injury.

It will not entitle him to seeding at Flushing Meadows, meaning he could face top players early in the tournament.

Kyrgios' injury history also means his participation cannot be certain.

He will be able to assess his fitness level when he competes in the doubles draw at July's Washington Open, alongside Gael Monfils.

What is Nick Kyrgios' record at the US Open?

Kyrgios hasn't had much success at Flushing Meadows.

Until his 2022 quarter-final, he had never made it past the third round, bowing out in the first round five times prior.

The 2025 edition of the US Open will begin on August 24 with the main draw of the men's and women's singles.
