Nick Kyrgios is on track to compete at the US Open.

After missing both Roland-Garros and Wimbledon through injury, the Australian looks set to feature in the season's last grand slam tournament.

Kyrgios has a current ATP ranking of 640, but has activated his protected ranking of 21.

This has seen him included on the US Open's official entry list for 2025.

Protected rankings are calculated using a player's average ranking over three months following an injury.

The ranking can be used for the first nine tournaments or nine months following their return to the court – whichever comes first.

Kyrgios has battled wrist, knee and foot problems over the past three years, making occasional appearances in pro tournaments.

He featured at the Brisbane International and Australian Open in January after an 18-month layoff.

The 30-year-old then made appearances at Indian Wells and Miami, but has not played since March, which means his protected ranking is still valid.

Kyrgios' protected ranking will not entitle him to seeding at Flushing Meadows, meaning he could face top players early in the tournament.

Despite his entry list inclusion, there is no guarantee the Australian will complete at the US Open, particularly considering his injury history.

He will be able to test his fitness at next week's Washington Open, where he will feature in the men's doubles draw alongside fan favourite Gael Monfils.

The US Open is scheduled to start on August 24, giving Kyrgios ample time to make a decision dependent on his health.
