Nick Kyrgios and Gael Monfils have lost in their doubles debut.
The pair were brushed aside in the first round of the Washington Open on Tuesday morning (AEST).
No. 3 seed duo Hugo Nys and Édouard Roger-Vasselin were too strong, claiming a straightforward 6-2 6-2 victory.
It marked Kyrgios' first professional tennis match since March.

His most recent doubles appearance, meanwhile, was at the Australian Open in January.
The 30-year-old has battled wrist, knee and foot problems in the past few years.
He most recently suffered an injury setback ahead of Roland-Garros in May, which also saw him skip Wimbledon.
Physically, Kyrgios did not look overly comfortable in DC.
"Knee cooked but fans still f***ed with us," the Australian wrote on Instagram after the match.
Still, Kyrgios' appearance is a step forward as he targets the US Open in August.
The Australian has a current ATP ranking of 640, but has activated his protected ranking of 21 to be included on the official entry list for the final grand slam tournament of the year.

Fans expected plenty of flair, shotmaking and excitement from Kyrgios and Monfils' partnership, but it turned into a clinical win for their doubles specialist opponents.
Nys and Roger-Vasselin converted on five of their nine break point opportunities to wrap things up quickly in Washington.
The Australian-French pair failed to win more than one game in a row throughout the entire match.
