For the past two years Carlos Alcaraz has played in the Queen's Championship and followed it up with a Wimbledon title.
This year he's hoping to replicate the pattern.
The 22-year-old phenom, fresh off a French Open title, announced on Friday he will be battling for the Queen's Cup. He starts on Sunday against fellow Spaniard Alejandro Dadovich Fokina.
Alcaraz won the Queen's Cup in 2023 ahead of his first Wimbledon title. The ATP 500 event is an opener for players to get acclimated with grass courts before the Grand Slam tournament begins.
Alcaraz lost in last year's tournament to Britain's Jack Draper. American Tommy Paul won the tournament last year but has opted out of this year's draw.
Taylor Fritz, Draper, and Francis Tiafoe are all potential threats to Alcaraz but his level lately has been unbeatable.
Last year Alcaraz was 8-1 on grass with the only loss coming from Draper. He still followed it up by winning the Wimbledon title over Novak Djokovic.

It remains to be seen if Alcaraz will transfer his momentum from clay to grass, but it's hard to doubt the Spaniard with how he's been playing.
