The British and Irish Lions, under Andy Farrell, kick-started their 2025 tour of Australia with a 54-7 drubbing of Western Force in Perth. Now they make the trip to Brisbane to take on the Queensland Reds.
The Lions bounced back from their 2025 opening game loss to Argentina. Captain Maro Itoje will play his first game of the nine-game tour while scrum-half Tomo Williams has been ruled out after suffering a hamstring injury in the match against the Force.
Meanwhile, the Reds had a decent Super Rugby season in 2025, finishing fifth on the ladder with an 8-6 record in their 14 games. They ended their campaign in the playoffs, losing to eventual champions, the Crusaders.
The Reds and the Lions have a long history in the colonial era, starting with the inaugural tour of 1888. In 13 meetings between the sides, the Lions have dominated, winning 12 of them.
During the last Lions tour Down Under in 2013, the Lions prevailed 22-12 when they met at the same venue for the upcoming fixture, in Suncorp Stadium.
