Tom Rodwell has been rewarded for a blistering run of form in the NSW Cup, with the Sydney Roosters promoting the in-form winger to their Top 30 squad ahead of a likely NRL debut in Round 18.
The 23-year-old, who has scored 15 tries in 14 reserve-grade games this season, including four in one outing against Canberra, fills the final vacancy in the Roosters’ squad list for 2025.
With depth in the outside backs stretched following the mid-season departure of Dominic Young, Rodwell’s elevation has arrived at just the right time.
A winger with wheels and work rate
Rodwell may be a new face to NRL fans, but he’s been building quietly in reserve grade for years. He began with the Newtown Jets before shifting to the Roosters this season, where he’s become a consistent presence on the wing.

As well as his remarkable strike rate, Rodwell has averaged 160 running metres per game and missed just nine tackles all year, numbers that hint at more than just finishing ability.
He also brings a family link to the club; his brother Toby Rodwell is a halfback prospect in the Roosters’ junior system.
Though yet to debut in first grade, Tom’s promotion clears the final squad requirement ahead of the June 30 deadline and positions him as a serious contender for a call-up as the Roosters gear up for the business end of the season.
