The NRL has announced two high-profile player agents have been issued with show-cause notices for alleged breaches of their accreditation scheme.

Mario Tartak and Matthew Desira have been identified as the guilty parties, and they are facing suspensions and fines as a result of their reported misconduct.

Tartak, who is the founder and director of Crown Sports Management, is the one facing the most severe punishment for his alleged dealings.

Tartak, who manages the likes of Josh Addo-Carr and Josh Schuster, is facing a 12-month ban and a $25,000 fine.

He is accused of communicating with an underage player without a parent and/or legal guardian being present.

On a recent appearance on The BillyJoe Podcast, Tartak offered a glimpse of what went on behind the scenes in the management of youth prospects and what he looked for when signing his clients.

"There’s a bit of love that goes into it," Tartak said.

"You go out there and you scout the right talent because not everyone makes the NRL. It’s only a small percentage that do.

"It’s really important that number one, you’re scouting the right kid. Number two, that you believe in the kid. And number three, you’ve got to remember that they’re still youngsters.

"Some of them are as young as 14 or 15... as agents we’re allowed to manage them the year they turn 15. So, we’ve got to be nurturing and I think I do that well.

"It’s not just me managing them though, it’s the family unit that does. The mum, dad, me and it can be brothers and sisters as well."

His suspension has also been dished out due to Tartak entering into a commercial arrangement with two unnamed NRL clubs, which is against the Accredited Agent Scheme Rules.

"The proposed penalty took into consideration previous breach proceedings which imposed conditions that further breaches could result in suspension of accreditation," the NRL noted.

Meanwhile, Desira is facing the prospect of a six-month ban and a $10,000 fine.

He is the director of Aria Management Group which includes the likes of Jayden Campbell and Bronson Xerri in its stable.

The breach notice relates to "non-reporting and dishonesty following police charges and court proceedings" which were levelled against Desira.

"Under the Accredited Agents’ Code of Conduct, agents are required to operate with high personal and professional standards," the NRL added.
