Who is Isaac Moses? Controversial NRL agent, manager behind Lachlan Galvin move image

Lachlan Galvin sensationally spurned the Wests Tigers this week, rejecting an extension without even reviewing it to assess his value on the open market.

In their statement, the team noted that Galvin "and his management" had opted against remaining in Campbell town, raising questions around how much influence his agent had on the decision.

But who is Isaac Moses, and why does he wield so much power in the NRL?

Who is Isaac Moses?

Isaac Moses is one of the NRL's most prolific agents, representing a large number of players and coaches within the league.

Moses' name is back in the news this week after his client, Lachlan Galvin, rejected a reported $5 million offer from his current team, instead choosing to leave the team at the end of 2026 and look for a different home.

The agent has been involved in a number of controversies in the NRL - he was deregistered for 18 months in 2021 in relation to a 2017 incident involving the Parramatta Eels, and was also banned for six months as part of the Melbourne Storm salary cap scandal.

Some teams such as the Sydney Roosters reportedly refuse to do business with Moses, while others, namely the Manly Sea Eagles, have been accused of being controlled in some part by the manager, due to his influence over both coach and players.

The Galvin saga is the latest in a long line of questionable decisions involving the agent, with many in the NRL world claiming he is making a mistake by icing out his current club - who have already axed him from the starting side.

"It's a difficult situation to be in, right," said NRL icon Cameron Smith on Nine's 100% Footy, ironically one of Moses' first clients and the one who helped legitimise him as a big-name agent.

"Particularly in that team environment when you've got a young guy playing in a key position, comes out and says, 'Look I don't want to be apart of this club moving forward'.

"While I was playing, if there was ever a player who came out and spoke about that, I'd be happy for them to move on because I want players involved in my club and my team that want to be there to make a difference.

"I think that's what will happen. If there's an opportunity that arises for the Tigers to find a replacement for Lachie, he won't be there next year. Hopefully that's the case for himself and the Wests Tigers."

Among Moses' controversies are feuds with fellow agents; he infamously was involved in a public stoush with former associate Joe Wehbe, who is linked to a rival agency and may have swayed players to jump ship from Moses' Cove Agency.
