Next week’s Origin decider in Sydney is officially sold out.

The NRL confirmed on Thursday that more than 83,000 NSW Blues fans are expected to pack Accor Stadium.

Following a crowd of 52,483 at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium and 57,023 at Optus Stadium in Perth, it means total attendance for the 2025 Origin series will top 192,000 fans.

But what are the biggest State of Origin crowds of all-time?

91,513 - Melbourne Cricket Ground, Game II, 2015

Despite the MCG’s larger 100,000-seat capacity the crowd was capped at 91,513 for safety reasons. Paul Gallen’s New South Wales side won the match 26-18 to level the 2015 series, 1-1.

90,084 - Melbourne Cricket Ground, Game II, 2024

Following a shock Game I loss in Sydney, Michael Maguire’s Blues stunned the Maroons to take a 34–0 lead into half time before winning 38-18 to level the series.

88,336 - Stadium Australia, 1999, Game II, 1999

New South Wales secured a 12–8 victory over Queensland in Laurie Daley’s final appearance as a Blues player in Sydney, sending the 1999 series to a Game III decider in Brisbane.

According to Austadiums, the biggest crowd at Sydney’s Accor Stadium since the venue’s post-Olympic reconfiguration in 2003 came when 83,833 fans attended the 2014 NRL Grand Final between South Sydney and Canterbury.

That number may well be in jeopardy come next Wednesday night.

The crowd for the inaugural State of Origin match back in 1980 at Brisbane’s Lang Park was 33,210.
