Defending Premiers, the Sydney Roosters are set to kick off their 2025 NRL Women's Premiership with a Round 1 clash against the New Zealand Warriors on Sunday night in Sydney.
The Roosters are back to defend their NRLW Premiership in 2025 as they look to challenge for their third title. Last season, Sydney failed to win the Minor Premiership after finishing second on the ladder to the Brisbane Broncos. However, with a Semi-Final win over the 2023 Premiers, the Newcastle Knights, and a Grand Final over the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, they were able to put their hands on their second-ever NRLW title.
The Warriors are back in the NRLW for the first time since 2020 after having decided to stay out of the competition in 2021. While they had plans to return in 2022, the NRL's plans to expand to 10 teams in 2023 did not include the New Zealand-based side's return in their scheme. In 2023, the Warriors decided to re-enter the NRLW in 2025 when the league increased to 12 teams.
