Hopes of a May brothers reunion at Wests Tigers have been dealt a blow, with Hull KR locking in Tyrone May on a new deal until the end of 2027.

The Samoan international was reportedly being lined up by his younger siblings, Taylan and Terrell, who are both currently at the Tigers, with speculation mounting that the trio were eager to play together in the NRL.

But those rumours have now been quashed, with Love Rugby League reporting that there is no truth to the claims and that May is fully committed to Craven Park.

“He wants to play with his brothers,” but not just yet

May’s desire to reunite with his family on the pitch has been no secret. Back in March, Hull KR head coach Willie Peters admitted that the lure of joining his brothers was a key consideration in contract talks.

“He wants to go and play with his brothers,” Peters said. “He’s openly said that, so that’s where his focus is.”

May himself has conceded that recommitting to the Robins was a “tough decision”, but he ultimately chose to remain in East Hull, where he’s enjoyed a successful stint since joining from Catalans Dragons in 2024.

The former Penrith Panther, who won the 2021 NRL Premiership, has now added a Challenge Cup title to his growing résumé at Hull KR, and looks set to continue making his mark in Super League, even if that long-hoped-for family reunion will have to wait.
