'We’re a tougher group': Woolf confident Dolphins are built for the run home image

Kristian Woolf has indicated that this week's meeting with the Sydney Roosters is one of the most important games in the Dolphins' short NRL history, with the result set to shape their run towards a maiden finals berth.

Sitting eighth on the premiership ladder, just two-points clear of the Roosters in ninth, the Dolphins can take a major step towards September with a win at Suncorp Stadium.

Woolf spoke to the stakes of this contest in his media availability ahead of round 23.

"It’s obviously a very significant game, where both teams sit, [we’re] very aware of the importance there," he said.

"We love a big crowd. It’s a big game for our club. I know it’s important for the Roosters as well."

The Dolphins were in a similar position late last season before fading in the final rounds, but Woolf believes 2025's squad has a harder edge and is better equipped to handle the pressure.

"I think I’ve learnt all that I need to learn about them as a group to be honest," he said.

"I think we’re a tougher group. We’ve shown that throughout the course of the season."

The rookie NRL coach praised his side's resilience in the face of injuries and mid-season setbacks, backing their quality to carry them over the next five rounds.

"Any disruptions, any challenges… the group’s hung in and not let each other down. That’s what I think will serve us well for the rest of the year," he said.

The Dolphins will host the Roosters on Saturday evening in Brisbane, with the home side hoping to repeat the success of their inaugural NRL match back in 2023 - when they shocked the tri-colours in front of more than 30,000 fans.
