Another State of Origin series is in the books with Queensland claiming the shield with an epic 24-12 win in the decider at Accor Stadium.

The Maroons toppled the Blues in a brutal affair with Coates, Dearden (2), and Grant crossing for for tries to reclaim the shield.

Who won the Wally Lewis Medal for State of Origin 2025 series?

Tom Dearden is the 2025 Wally Lewis Medal winner.

Dearden was electric, scoring two tries and having a hand in several line breaks which put Queensland ahead by a significant margin.

Whilst he will go down in history for his attacking statistics, it was his scrambling defence which would make his Maroons teammates so proud.

On multiple occasions, the little number seven chased down Brian To'o and tackled him before he could capitalise on a New South Wales chance.

Dearden now becomes the first Queensland halfback to win a Wally Lewis medal since Johnathan Thurston back in 2008.

Who won the Wally Lewis Medal last year?

Angus Crichton was crowned the Wally Lewis Medal winner for his performances during the Blues' two-straight victories to wrestle the shield off QLD.

Crichton was a standout in Game II in Melbourne, where NSW turned the tables on the Maroons after suffering a loss in the opening match.

The backrower was equally as important in the decider, despite being taken off in the first minute for a HIA.

Crichton returned to the fold after passing his test to register 137 run metres and 12 tackles in a strong display.

Crichton's win snapped a run from QLD forwards who had won the medal in the previous two years as he became the first NSW player since Tom Trbojevic in 2021 to claim the accolade as the player of the series.
