Down on troops and down on confidence.

That’s the view of South Sydney coach, Wayne Bennett, who spoke after last night’s heavy 50-28 loss to the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium.

Quizzed about his team’s current five-game losing streak, Bennett pointed to confidence, or more specifically a lack of it, as being at the heart of the Bunnies’ continued struggles in 2025.

“We don’t have enough confidence in ourselves, that’s our biggest challenge,” Bennett lamented post match.

Depending on the result of the Titans-Cowboys match, the Rabbitohs could find themselves in last place on the NRL ladder by the end of Round 17.

However, the 75-year-old super coach identified some cause for optimism for long-suffering Bunnies fans, pointing to the fact his side had outscored the Dolphins in the second half (22-20).

“There hasn’t been a half that we haven’t won in every game we’ve played,” Bennett said.

“We’ve won a half, but we haven’t won a game in the last five weeks.

“They just don’t believe enough.”

Compounding the Rabbitohs’ current woes, veteran half Cody Walker appeared to suffer yet another injury mid-way through the second half, succumbing to a hamstring issue.
