Solomona Faataape has confirmed he will join the Catalans Dragons on a two-year deal, marking the end of his NRL stint with the Wests Tigers.

The 24-year-old centre had already announced his departure last week but has now locked in a move to the Super League, fulfilling what he describes as a long-held ambition.

Faataape made 19 first-grade appearances for the Tigers since signing in 2023 but had recently fallen out of favour, with Taylan May and debutant-in-waiting Heamasi Makasini preferred in the backline.

“Playing in the Super League has always been a dream of mine. I’m excited to move over and can’t wait to dig in and work hard with the boys,” Faataape said. “I’m not here for a holiday, I want to bring success to this great club!”

Faataape joins a fresh wave of talent at the French outfit, alongside Canterbury Bulldogs halfback Toby Sexton and Penrith Panthers youngster Zac Lipowicz.

Catalans coach Joel Tomkins welcomed the signing, backing the former Brisbane Tigers junior to make an impact in Europe.

“Solomona joins us with some NRL experience and a clear focus on developing his game and helping the Dragons compete at the top level,” Tomkins said. “His best years are still in front of him, and we are excited to see what he can do in Super League.”

Faataape had also been linked with Castleford but opted for the Dragons, bringing added depth and versatility to the Perpignan-based side’s outside backs.
