'Trying to have a laugh': Reece Walsh slammed after viral punching video image

Broncos star Reece Walsh has found himself in hot water once again, after a video of him punching another man went viral Tuesday.

The fullback - who is currently sidelined with a knee injury - was showing punching someone he claims to be a close friend, wearing a boxing glove in a video shared to social media.

Reports came quickly that his team were not too impressed by the incident, with Brisbane launching an investigation that will likely result in a fine.

A rocky Brisbane Broncos season has been thrown into even more turmoil, after their five-million dollar man went viral for a video in which he punches another person.

Walsh has apologised for the incident, while explaining that the other man was a lifelong friend, describing it as a joke with a mate that "went too far".

"Just having a laugh with my mate, obviously," Walsh told the Today show.

"You know we don't support violence and stuff like that, but obviously, it's not a good look for myself and that was all [me] trying to have a laugh and a good time with friends.

"I feel like I could have obviously chosen [my actions] a lot better. I feel like just having a laugh with my mate and putting it on social media and stuff like that.

"It's really important that we try and keep those things away and obviously we don't support violence in those sorts of ways. [Things] probably went a bit too far."

Walsh will miss the first game of State of Origin due to his injury, but a return is imminent for the young star, hoping to put this latest scandal behind.
