The Canberra Raiders have locked in the versatile forward Simi Sasagi for another season, extending his stay at the club until the end of 2028 with a two-year extension.
“I'm grateful to be staying here for the next couple of years and to continue to become better each day,” Sasagi said in a club statement confirming the news.
As a Newcastle Knights junior, injuries curtailed his early career, and he was relegated to NSW Cup in 2023 after appearing in 17 NRL games for the Knights across the two prior seasons.
The 24-year-old moved from the Newcastle Knights in 2024 searching for opportunity and a regular first-grade spot.
The move to Canberra yielded immediate results, and after featuring in 10 NRL games for the Raiders last year, Sasagi has played in all but three matches in 2025.

Sasagi has been an important cog in the Green Machine’s push toward a premiership this year, playing edge and middle forward roles as well as filling in at centre, with his versatility a real positive for coach Ricky Stuart.
Coach Stuart has spoken glowingly about Sasagi previously, and at 24 years of age, he potentially still has a lot of development and growth left.
For a Raiders team whose identity under Stuart has always had a foundation of a strong, physical forward pack, Sasagi has not only fit right in but is becoming an important piece in the Raiders’ charge into September finals football.
