The Canberra Raiders currently sit atop the NRL ladder, but the rich are set to get richer, snapping up a Dragons rising star.
The team has reportedly landed the signature of 23-year-old Sione Finau, who will depart the team he has been with since 2023.
Finau has been sidelined since round 20, when he dislocated his shoulder scoring a try, and with no chance to return to the field this season he will head to the nation's capital to prepare for next season.
NRL premiership contenders land Dragons rising star
Sione Finau has reportedly signed with the Canberra Raiders, joining Ricky Stuart's squad on a three-year deal.
According to the Daily Telegraph, the youngster's time in the Gong is over, and he will look to force his way into the Raiders starting 13 come 2026.
This comes after news of a meeting between Finau and the Raiders was leaked late last month, leading to frustration from coach Ricky Stuart.
"[It was] meant to be a private meeting," he said.
"I just don't feel comfortable with it."
"He's a real nice young bloke. I feel sorry for him," he said.
Stuart's respect for Finau has clearly carried through, as he now joins the team from 2026.
