The South Sydney Rabbitohs have landed one of Queensland’s most promising young outside backs, with Dean Tauaa set to join the club from the Brisbane Broncos’ pathways system.

After having a standout season playing in the Under-20s NRLQ competition with the Brisbane Broncos, Tauaa has reportedly turned down interest from the Newcastle Knights to sign with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, according to Zero Tackle.

Renowned for his blistering pace, physicality, and sharp footwork, Tauaa was a standout performer in this year’s Mal Meninga Cup and has continued his impressive form representing Mabel Park State High School in the prestigious Langer Trophy competition.

The 17-year-old was also named in the Queensland City Under-17s representative side, further cementing his reputation as a rising star.

Tauaa is set to begin his journey with the Rabbitohs in next season’s SG Ball Cup, with plans to work his way through the club’s development pathway.

The young star will join forces with another exciting prospect, front-rower Phillip Lavakeiaho, who arrived from the Sydney Roosters earlier this year and has quickly established himself as a key figure in the Rabbitohs’ SG Ball Cup premiership-winning side.
