Trent Robinson and the Sydney Roosters have been flying under the radar for much of the 2025 NRL season—but not any longer.
In a match with major finals ramifications for both sides, it was no contest as the Roosters destroyed Kristian Woolf’s Dolphins 64-12 in a fiery clash at Suncorp Stadium, racking up the club’s largest away score since the 1930s in an eleven-try romp.
While still sitting just outside the top eight on points difference, the Roosters are now within one win of the injury-hit Brisbane Broncos and two wins of the rapidly-sliding New Zealand Warriors.
Both sides are firmly within the Roosters’ sights as the finals loom large.

‘We’re getting really close’
Since taking over in 2013, Robinson, 48, has guided the Roosters to the NRL finals in all but one season (2016) in a run that has already delivered three premierships.
Is a fourth NRL title on the veteran coach’s mind?
“I think we’re getting really close (to where we want to be as team),” Trent Robinson said after the Dolphins match.
“We know our style of footy and next week will be a really clear picture of where we’re at, and whether we’re going to make a difference this year.”
The Roosters host the Canterbury Bulldogs at Allianz Stadium next Friday night in what captain James Tedesco described as ‘a do or die game’.
It shapes as one of the matches of the season—then again, so did last night’s Dolphins contest and we saw what happened at Suncorp.
