Dally M: Penrith's James Maloney snags top spot as voting goes behind closed doors image

With Dally M voting about to go behind closed doors, Penrith’s James Maloney has shot to the top of the leaderboard, holding a one point advantage over three players.

Maloney snagged two votes from Dally M judge Braith Anasta during the Panthers’ win over St George Illawarra, with Isaah Yeo’s barnstorming runs getting the three votes and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak claiming the remaining one point.

Equal in second spot behind Maloney, Andrew Fifita’s run of 11 votes in four games came to an end, with the prop unable to get a vote during Cronulla’s 48-10 demolition of Newcastle. Matt Moylan’s record-equalling day out was good enough for the three Dally M votes, While hat-trick hero Val Holmes scored two votes and Sharks prop Matt Prior getting his first vote of the year.

Check out the full Dally M leaderboard here.

With Kalyn Ponga locked out of the votes by a Sharks clean sweep (and a Luke Lewis hit that was borderline rude [and illegal]), he remains on 16 points with Fifita and Luke Brooks, who scored the full three votes from judge Jimmy Smith in the Wests Tigers’ win over Canterbury.

Benji Marshall also added to his tally, scoring two votes to take his tally to 11, while Josh Jackson scored one vote.
