Penrith have reportedly made a quiet approach for Dragons speedster Tyrell Sloan, as the out-of-favour outside back explores options away from St George Illawarra.
Despite being contracted until the end of 2026, Sloan has fallen down the pecking order under coach Shane Flanagan, who axed him earlier this year. With Sloan now free to negotiate with rivals, the four-time reigning premiers are said to be monitoring his situation.
“The first club I’ve heard linked to him, which is an interesting one, is I think the Panthers have made a subtle inquiry,” 9News reporter Danny Weidler revealed on 100% Footy.

“I’m not certain exactly where he’d fit in. He’s obviously not going to be the fullback, but he’s got speed to burn on the wing and he’s a player that might thrive in that system.”
Confidence, the big hurdle
Still only 23, Sloan has shown flashes of brilliance in open space but has struggled with defensive consistency and pressure under the high ball.
A move to the Super League has also been floated, though the opportunity to develop within the Panthers' elite system could be more enticing.

“He is a player that you look at... and you can tell that he is just struggling with confidence and belief,” NRL360 host Braith Anasta said. “But when he is on, he has got so much talent. The kid could be a freak.”
With Clint Gutherson arriving in 2025 and wingers Corey Allan and Christian Tuipulotu ahead of him, Sloan’s future at the Red V appears increasingly uncertain.
