NRL attendance records: Bulldogs and Bunnies maintain regular season crowd record

The NRL set a new attendance record during a regular season fixture with the Good Friday clash between Canterbury and South Sydney drawing 65,305 fans.

The Bulldogs put on a show in front of the massive numbers at Accor Stadium as Cameron Ciraldo’s side smashed the Rabbitohs 32-0. 

"When we ran out, there was a massive roar and I got goosebumps from it," Josh Curran said post-match.

"Today, breaking the record and seeing all the crowd - it was outstanding."

All week the talk of a record attendance for the clash between the two rivals was teased. The predicted numbers quickly rose from 50,000 to eventually land around the 70,000 mark.

This wasn’t reached in the end, but the 65,305 fans who attended led to a new benchmark being created regardless.

"It’s super exciting," Reed Mahoney told Fox League. 

"We didn’t expect 65k and I reckon 60k of them were Bulldogs fans." 

The figure smashed the previous best by over 5,000 people.  

What was the previous largest crowd before Bulldogs and Rabbitohs set new record?

South Sydney’s meeting with the Sydney Roosters had set the record most recently in 2013 with the battle between the bitter rivals watched by 59,708 fans at Homebush. 

The Chooks rode to a 24-12 victory in the game as they claimed the minor premiership.

The Dogs were involved in another blockbuster match in 2025, with their Round 14 clash against Parramatta on the King's Birthday drawing massive numbers and beating the previous record as well. 

During the 30-12 win over the Eels, 59,878 were in attendance to watch a game where Lachlan Galvin made his debut for the club at Accor Stadium.
