Lachlan Galvin has finally spoken out about his new life with the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs following his highly debated mid-season switch from the West Tigers.

The 20-year-old's move dominated headlines and sparked intense debate, with many eager to see how Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo would deploy the young playmaker.

After a turbulent start that saw him begin games on the bench and even miss selection altogether, Galvin has now locked in the No.7 jersey for Canterbury – displacing Toby Sexton as the club’s first-choice halfback for the remainder of the season.

Speaking candidly after the club’s dramatic Round 20 comeback victory over the Dragons, Galvin reflected on the mounting pressure surrounding his mid-season move.

“It is what it is, people are always going to have their opinions but I’m just going to keep working,” Galvin said.

“I listen to the people inside the four walls at Belmore and that’s Ciro and all the coaches and all the boys. I keep working hard and for it to pay off tonight and me to keep building for the rest of the year, that’s all I’m going to do.

“I’m just here to learn. That’s all I want to do. I’m only 20 years of age, I just want to keep building. I’ll just keep learning and keep building. Ciro and all the assistants are doing that for me.”

With the Bulldogs’ lineup disrupted by State of Origin commitments, Galvin and Matt Burton have shared just 51 minutes together in the halves across five matches since the former Wests Tigers arrival in early June.

Now, however, the pair look poised to form a long-term halves partnership as the Bulldogs set their sights on ending their premiership drought dating back to 2004.
