Andrew Webster casts doubt on Origin star's inclusion for the Warriors image

Fresh off Queensland’s Origin triumph, Kurt Capewell may be set for a breather as Warriors coach Andrew Webster weighs up whether to risk his star forward for Sunday’s Round 19 clash against the Wests Tigers.

With the NRL entering its post-Origin run-in, clubs across the league are making calls on how best to manage their rep stars, and Capewell’s status is firmly under review.

“He’d have to be in really good shape to play”

“We’ve seen so many injuries in the NRL off the back of Origin,” Webster said. “He’d have to be in really good shape to play [on Sunday].”

The Warriors will already be without fullback Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad due to a knee issue, while Luke Metcalf’s season-ending injury has opened the door for Tanah Boyd to slot in at halfback.

There’s more positive news for fans, though, with Dallin Watene-Zelezniak named to make an early return from an ankle complaint, pending final training clearance.

The Warriors have momentum on their side, having won eight straight against the Tigers. But whether Capewell joins the squad at Go Media Stadium remains the big question heading into the weekend.
