Jayden Campbell has revealed he has set his sights on earning a Queensland jersey in the future after being given a small taste of State of Origin action.

The Gold Coast playmaker was called into the Maroons’ camp ahead of the series decider to help the team in their preparations.

"I had the opportunity to go up after Billy [Slater] gave Des [Hasler] a call and asked for a few of us to go," Campbell said. "I really enjoyed it and it’s given me something to chase now."

Campbell admitted that he hasn’t necessarily been focused on the Origin arena since his journey in first grade started back in 2021.

"Growing up, I wouldn't say I didn't have a drive to play Origin but I just was trying to strive to make the NRL," Campbell said.

"Now, it’s given me something to chase which I’m really fortunate for.

"It was one of their big sessions for the week, so we just did a little bit of an opposed session against them - throwing a bit of opposition shape against them," the 25-year-old continued.

"It was a really cool experience and I was happy to be there."

Despite being entrenched in the camp with Slater and co, Campbell noted how he didn’t venture into any extensive talks with the coach.

Instead, he was just happy to be a part of the set-up while trying to take on as many learning experiences as possible.

"I’m not really one to ask a lot of questions, in regards to asking what do I have to do [to make the team]," Campbell stated.

"I’m still learning and trying to get my game right. Hopefully, the time comes one day when I get to play Origin."

The Titans favourite hasn't been able to lock down a long-term position in the spine yet during his time on the Glitter Strip, largely due to his adaptability.

He got his start at fullback but has since been used off the bench as the utility before being moved to five-eighth and then halfback during the past two years.

"I’ve got no clue," Campbell responded when asked what position he would like to play for QLD.

"I’d just be happy to play a game of Origin. Like I said, it’s given me something to chase now, whether it’s No.6, No.7 or No.1.

"I’d be a No.8," he added with a laugh. "It’s wherever."
