It was the story that dominated the NRL season, and this Sunday it will come to a head, when Lachlan Galvin faces his former team, the Wests Tigers.
In what will likely be an emotionally charged affair, the 20-year-old will come up against the team that he dramatically forced his way out of earlier this season, including former halves partner Jarome Luai.
But as the game approaches, Luai has insisted that there is no bad blood between the two talented playmakers.
Jarome Luai breaks silence on Lachlan Galvin feud
It's been a mixed bag for Jarome Luai in his first season at Leichdardt, seven wins and 12 losses to this point in the season, two State of Origin appearances, as well as the turmoil caused by Galvin's unceremonious exit.
With the young star now featuring for the title-contending Bulldogs, Luai has said that he holds no malice towards Galvin for how things played out this season.
"That’s not what it’s about bro," Galvin told the Daily Telegraph.
"He’s made his call on his future. Everyone’s entitled to that. You know, he’s winning games of footy, he’s enjoying himself.
"So good on him, all the best to him. That’s what I’m trying to do for my team at the moment.
"I think he spoke about it already and said that there wasn’t any beef in the relationship, which is true. I did my best to try and make him a better footballer.
"All pre-season I thought to myself, we connected well and you know, we started the year off in great form, won some games.
"But like I just said before, he made a call on his future. All the other best of him, bro. I’m just focused on my career."
A win for the Wests Tigers would go a long way to keeping their dream of finals footy alive, while a Bulldogs' victory will see them inch closer towards Canberra in search of this season's minor premiership.
