South Sydney's season from hell has become even worse with news that Jack Wighton has been suspended for three matches.
Wighton will join an extensive list of stars on the sidelines for Wayne Bennett's side, who fell to an eighth consecutive defeat when going down by two points to Cronulla on Saturday.
The former Dally M winner was cited for a shoulder charge on Toby Rudolf, with the shot leaving the Sharks forward concussed and Wighton sent to the sinbin.

Wighton can accept a three-match suspension or risk a fourth match if he fights the charge and is unsuccessful.
The 32-year-old's absence is yet another headache for Bennett, who has been forced to field makeshift teams all year as injury wreaks havoc on his squad.
In addition to losing Wighton, the Rabbitohs also look set to be without front rower Tevita Tatola, after he dislocated his shoulder in the loss to Cronulla.
That pair join the likes of Latrell Mitchell, Cody Walker, Keaon Koloamatangi, Campbell Graham and Brandon Smith on the sidelines.
Souths now sit in 17th on the ladder, with Bennett hoping to avoid the first wooden spoon of his coaching career.
The veteran coach wouldn't be drawn when asked about the possibility of recording that unwanted statistic on Saturday night.
"I knew someone would ask that question, I'm not answering that," he said.
The Bunnies face a trip to Brisbane to play the sixth-placed Broncos in Round 22.
If he accepts the three-match ban, Wighton misses the clash with the Broncos, as well as games against the Titans and Eels.
