Isaiya Katoa is set to join the New South Wales camp ahead of the State of Origin decider.

The Dolphins halfback has been in stellar form this season and is viewed as a potential future Blues No. 7.

He will join the Blues on Tuesday at their Leura training base.

However, Katoa has been included for "the experience", rather than being on standby for Nathan Cleary, per News Corp.

Cleary is carrying a groin injury but is expected to feature in Game III.

NSW's side for the Sydney clash is set to be announced on Sunday evening.

Katoa, 21, played a starring role as the Dolphins beat the Rabbitohs 50-28 on Saturday night.

He has already made 60 NRL career appearances.

This season, he has notched 17 try assists while averaging 116 run metres.
