How much do men's Origin players earn per match?
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, men's State of Origin players have earned $30,000 per match since 2023, with that figure likely unchanged for 2025.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, players received a reduced $10,000 fee in 2020 and took home $15,000 per game in 2021.

How does this compare to the regular season?
The average NRL player salary – which would not apply to the majority of Origin stars – hovers around the $400,000 mark.
Split over 24 regular season games, that equates to just over $16,500 per match.
How much do women's Origin players earn per match?
An increase was also made for women's match payments in 2023, with players taking home $15,000 per game.
The change brought NSW players in line with their Queensland opponents, who benefitted from a landmark deal made the year prior.
This figure is understood to have remained for the 2025 series.
