'I‘ll have a think about it': Seibold weighs fullback switch after Roosters defeat image

Manly coach Anthony Seibold is considering a crucial position reshuffle after his side's 20-4 defeat to the Roosters have left their finals hopes in jeopardy.

Tom Trbojevic, who has recently been playing at centre, shifted to fullback during the second half as the Sea Eagles desperately chased three unanswered tries.

Lehi Hopoate had earlier left the field for a HIA, prompting Trbojevic's first switch to the back; he later returned, before Seibold moved the former Dally M medalist again.

Asked about his decision in the post-match press conference, Seibold kept his reasoning brief.

"We went down 20 points to four with 20 minutes to go... we had to try something," he said.

The Manly coach admitted it was too soon to decide if Trbojevic would remain at fullback for next week's clash against the Raiders.

"I‘ll have a think about it," he said.

"It’s 10 minutes after the game.

"We just tried to get Turbo on the footy and start moving the footy."

At just 28-years-of-age, Trbojevic has had more than his fair share of injuries in recent seasons.

However, Seibold's willingness to revert him back to fullback suggests the Sea Eagles are going all-in during their must-win run to the finals.

Conditions at 4 Pines Park made attacking play difficult, but Seibold stressed discipline was as costly as the rain.

"Our discipline needs to be better, too many leg ups in this weather," he said.

"Seven or eight yardage penalties across the game."

The loss leaves Manly tenth on the premiership ladder, making their ability to fight their way back into the top-eight an uphill battle.

The fullback debate will dominate Manly's build-up to Canberra. Whether Seibold sticks with Hopoate or turns back to Trbojevic will shape their finals hopes.
