Player agent Allan Gainey, one of Australia’s original racehorse syndicators through his company Hyperion Thoroughbreds (founded in 1975), has never lost touch with his horse racing roots.
With the NRL season nearing its end and the player market about to heat up, clubs are beginning to circle for off-contract talent.
Known for his creative approach, respected player agent Allan Gainey has blended his horse racing roots with rugby league business, sending out a “form guide” of his available players to every NRL club.
The Daily Telegraph was able to obtain the email that was sent to NRL clubs.

It reads…
Good afternoon,
With the season rapidly drawing to a conclusion I considered it timely to advise you of a few select players whom I manage that have as yet to be contracted for the 2026 season.
Jack Hetherington (Newcastle Knights). Jack is very confident that he still has plenty to offer in the NRL. He is prepared to back himself and is open to a most realistic offer. Can play middle or edge, with excellent leg speed. Capable of playing more minutes than he has been afforded in recent times. In his own words, “I am ready to reinvent myself”!
Brent Naden (Wests Tigers). The ideal utility player who can competently cover centre, wing, fullback and five eight. A big body with excellent pace and a strong defender. Injury free following an early season setback and would be a worthy acquisition at good value. Likely to be forced out of the Tigers due to salary cap restraints but the Tigers CEO and Coach are more than happy to provide a glowing endorsement.
Luke Sommerton (Penrith Panthers). The backup NRL hooker and captain of reserve grade. Ultra reliable and fills in very capably for the NRL team when required. An excellent defender with an ultra-high work rate. Ideal number 14 who can also cover five eight and lock. Plays big minutes and has come through a proven system. A very popular clubman.
Jaiyden Hunt (Brisbane Broncos). A more than capable middle and edge forward who has acquitted himself well in the strong Broncos pack when called upon. Can also fill in at centre if required. Has very good leg speed and renowned for his work ethic at training. A chance to be retained but would of course consider other interest.
Well as you may be aware in my early days I was very closely involved in the thoroughbred industry. My apologies therefore for relaying this information to you as a “form guide” but as I have studied many over the years, I trust there is a winner or two for you in the above information!!
Please note that I will be overseas (in the Mediterranean) from Tuesday 19th August returning Saturday 6th September. During this period, I should be available on email and text if you need to make contact.
All the best,
Allan
