A rising name in NRL coaching circles, St George Illawarra Dragons assistant Ryan Carr is once again attracting attention from rival clubs, this time for a vacant head coaching role abroad.
Carr, who joined the Dragons in 2022 under then-head coach Anthony Griffin, remains contracted until the end of the 2025 NRL season.
He is currently serving under Shane Flanagan and has developed a strong reputation across multiple coaching roles, including assistant stints with the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Cronulla Sharks, and as NSW Cup coach of the Parramatta Eels.
In 2023, Carr stepped into the spotlight when he led the Dragons as interim head coach, notching three wins from 12 games during a turbulent period for the club.

According to All Out Rugby League, Carr is being closely linked to a head coaching opportunity overseas, with insiders suggesting he is a leading contender to be the head coach for the Castleford Tigers.
While the club hasn’t confirmed an appointment, their Director of Rugby described their ideal candidate as “a development coach with NRL experience... somebody that's pretty new and pretty fresh with an attacking style of rugby.”
With Carr ticking many of those boxes, his potential departure could mark a significant shift in his coaching journey, and see him move from the NRL to the Super League.
