Scan results have confirmed star centre Herbie Farnworth will be sidelined for the next four to six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in the club’s Round 22 win against the Warriors.

Farnworth went down early in the match after crossing for the opening try, grabbing at his left leg mid-sprint and limping off visibly distressed after what was a scintillating start to the game, already registering three line breaks.

Scans have since confirmed a significant hamstring tear, with the Dolphins officially ruling the England international out for between four and six games at the most crucial juncture of the Dolphins’ season.

The injury is a brutal blow to the club’s finals push, with Farnworth one of their most consistent attacking threats in 2025, scoring 12 tries in 19 appearances this season.

With just five rounds left before finals, there’s a genuine possibility Farnworth won’t be seen again this season unless the Dolphins qualify and progress deep into September.

The news also casts doubt over Farnworth’s availability for England’s upcoming Ashes series later this year, with the recovery window tight depending on his rehab response.

The Dolphins, currently clinging to a spot inside the eight, will now be forced to reshuffle their backline and cover for one of their most dynamic strike players and arguably the best centre of season 2025.

It’s a frustrating outcome for Farnworth, who has enjoyed a career year, forming a lethal combination with Jamayne Isaako and combining his outstanding attack with trademark strong defensive efforts on the left edge.

Coach Kristian Woolf will now need to weigh up replacement options with limited time and squad depth as the Dolphins face a crucial final stretch to keep their finals dream alive, starting with this week’s matchup against a ninth-placed Roosters outfit also needing to win to keep their own hopes alive.
