Des Hasler’s time at the helm of the Gold Coast Titans could come to an abrupt end as early as next week, with a new report claiming he’s lost the support of his playing group.

According to Code Sports, a growing number of Titans players have become disillusioned with Hasler’s coaching methods, citing unclear communication and overly intense training sessions.

The disconnect reportedly runs so deep that one player only discovered he was making his NRL debut after seeing the team lists online, before anyone from the club had informed him.

Hasler, in his second season on the Gold Coast, is facing mounting pressure with the team anchored to the bottom of the ladder despite a roster sprinkled with representative talent.

A clause in his contract allows the club to terminate his deal immediately once they are mathematically ruled out of finals contention, a scenario that will become reality if they lose to Brisbane on Sunday.

“It has been a disaster this year”

Veteran journalist Phil Rothfield didn’t mince words when assessing Hasler’s stint on the Gold Coast, calling it a failure and alluding to a possible quiet exit.

“It has been a disaster this year. I thought they had a top eight roster to be honest with you,” Rothfield said on NRL360.

“He had tumultuous exits at the Sea Eagles and Bulldogs, both of which finished up in court. I don’t think he wants to end his career like that. I think he’ll gracefully step down at the end of the year.”

Hasler has managed just 12 wins from 39 games since taking over the Titans in 2024.
