Those are usually the names in Dally M medal contention year in, year out. But 2018 has signalled a new era of dominance.
None of the superstar regulars, besides Smith who is still sniffing around on 20 Dally M points, are even close to claiming another prestigious medal, outmatched by the next generation of stars.
As it stands, it's Roger Tuivasa-Sheck's to lose with the Warriors fullback pinching a one-point lead for an incredible performance against the Dragons where he ran for a whopping 239 metres.
But it's not over yet.
One man of the match performance from either Kalyn Ponga, Damien Cook or Luke Brooks can turn things on its head in one of the tightest races for the Dally M Medal in history.
To be fair, you wouldn't be mad if any from that quartet etch their name in history.
