The Perth Bears are yet to recruit a single player ahead of their entry to the NRL in 2027.

Where better to start than the reigning State of Origin-winning captain?

In an opinion piece, News Corp's David Riccio singled out Cameron Munster as a priority signing for the new WA club.

He believes the Storm playmaker could fetch up to $2 million a season if he signed with Perth.

This salary figure takes into account the new broadcast deal, which is set to begin in 2028.

Munster is contracted at Melbourne until the end of 2027. Therefore, he would have to be given permission to speak with the Bears and their inaugural coach, Mal Meninga.

With Harry Grant and Ryan Papenhuyzen entering a negotiation phase with the Storm, the Victorian club will soon be able to determine how much money they can offer the 31-year-old.

Would a record-breaking salary be enough to sway Munster, or would the two-time premiership winner prefer to see out his career as a one-club player?

Riccio also floated Munster's Maroons teammate and Titans captain Tino Fa'asuamaleaui as a marquee option for the Bears.

Gold Coast continue to struggle, and the talented forward has a reported contract clause that allows him to leave the club at the end of 2026.

With a maiden board meeting scheduled for August, the Bears will have some big decisions on their hands.
